Due to the increase in Rogue Traders, JPS has introduced a quality control service. This service incorporates randomly checking recently tested items for some of the Rogue Trader practices.
PAT Testing is similar in many ways to the annual car MOT test. A Rogue traders defense will always be that the appliance was tested thoroughly at time of test. This type of defense will in most cases always be applicable, after all, the trailing flex of any hoover can always be trapped and damaged by a door closing on it. Human error also plays a part in the quality control process, after all we all make mistakes.
The quality control process must take both of the above situations into account and in essence relies upon the repeat occurence of incidents before any conclusions can be drawn. It is therefore imperative ,for the quality control process to work, that it is implemented as soon after the testing as is possible.
